This crisp and refreshing sparkling wine that challenges the best of N.V. Champagnes. A zesty, refreshing bubbly with vibrant green apple notes. Clean finish. Great price. It offers low alcohol but lots of taste and a persistent mousse. Pair with oysters and mussels. Scrumptious Seafood Wine.

Gold with a touch if copper in colour with medium intensity & fine mousse. This sparkling smells & taste like fine Champagne, but at least half the price & it's Canadian! This sparkling shows notes of baked apple, yeast, pine nuts, brioche, lemon and lime stone.

John Szabo, MS.  Clean and highly toasty, a very biscuity style of traditional method sparkling. Length and depth are impressive. Always in the top echelon of Canadian bubbly.

Remy Charet.  A very classic bubbly with nice berry notes, a crisp nose with a bit of smoke, and good depth and energy.

Tasting Notes: A blend of Pinot Noir, Chardonnay and Pinot Gris grapes produced in the traditional Champagne method, this sparkling wine has been built to last. The lees-y character (two years sur-lie) will bloom over time and create a richly textured sparkler that will be sure to impress even the most discriminating wine-lover.
Apples, pears and a touch of citrus aromas on the nose with mineral and lees notes. The dry palate has mouth-watering lime zest acidity and a lingering, orchard fruit finish. A serious sparkling wine without the serious price-tag. Drink now or hold for 5-7 more years.

Viticulture

- 100% estate grown grapes - hand harvested.
- Manual thinning is practiced in the vineyard to reduce the crop yield and produce a more concentrated and higher quality grape.

Vinification

- Grapes are all whole cluster pressed and each variety is fermented separately.
- After fermentation the wines are blended and re-inoculated with yeast and bottled to go through secondary fermentation.
- Post secondary fermentation, the wine is left to age sur-lie for 24 months.
- The wine is disgorged and finished dry in the classic Brut style then left for approximately 6 to 9 months prior to release.

Producer Description

Blue Mountain is the wild and respected territory of which the Mavety family are blessed to be the guardians. As a family business with a strong connection to the South Okanagan site, the goal of Blue Mountain Vineyard and Cellars is to realize the potential of the individual sites of the land in which the grapes are grown. Overlooking and tending, the Mavety’s life work is an ongoing process of creating something simple yet powerful, to be expressed in the glass and enjoyed.

The philosophy of Blue Mountain is to focus on the potential of each variety, continually improving its range across Pinot Noir, Chardonnay, Gamay Noir, and Traditionnelle Methode sparkling wine.

Blue Mountain’s strong focus on viticulture across the site allows for an increased representation of individual terroir when the grapes reach the winery.

A deliberate refinement of the winemaking process has allowed Blue Mountain to more clearly capture the identity of each of the vineyard blocks. Through these unifying processes, Blue Mountain allows for a reflection of the land and the fruits of its labour.

Careful vinification prevents over-handling through the strategy to continually evolve the entire process – from the growing practices in the vineyard, to handling of the fruit and sorting, to minimal extraction, ageing, and racking. By focusing on the bigger picture, Blue Mountain strives to reveal precise, focused wines that are terroir-driven, regardless of whether they are a blend reflecting different sites, or a single vineyard wine.

For Blue Mountain, as the vineyards age, and new vineyards are established, the cycle of growth as a business and a range continues. The process is truly an ever-evolving reality, representative of the Estate, and bringing precision and focus to its continued evolution.
