Burrowing Owl Estate Winery - Syrah 2018 * 1

  • A deep, brooding Syrah with an intense nose of blackberry, black cherry and black plum fruit along with some pastry crust, vanilla and clove and complex notes of burlap, leather, espresso, violet, graphite, black sage and bacon. Dry, full-bodied and rich on the palate with intense black pepper, black fruit, ripe tannins, paprika, roasted red peppers, dark chocolate and grilled rosemary with a long finish and plenty of potential to age.

Pairing Notes:
Gateau Chocolat made with Belgian chocolate (65% extra bitter cocoa). Combination of its moderate sweetness and refreshing acidity of raspberries make this cake perfect for pairing with this full-bodied Syrah that has the aroma and taste of dark chocolate.

The wine and cake pairing sets that were so popular during last year's holiday season are available again this year too!

This is a collaboration project with patissiere Elly of "mariage", a specialist in pairing sweets with wine. We have prepared a set of our popular wines and special sweets that are perfect for pairing. This year, in addition to last year's popular Gateau Chocolat and Fruit Cake, we are also offering a non-sweet deli cake. Please place your order sooner than later as only 12 cakes each will be available!
