Creekside Iconoclast Syrah 2022
2022 was truly a memorable and magical vintage in Niagara. It produced wines with great intensity, concentration and ripeness while still keeping the acidity intact. This wine is beautiful now but will still reward you with some ageing in your cellar. Iconoclast bottlings represent some of our best Syrah, just a step below our Reserve level. Always incredible value.

Cellaring
Enjoy through 2032
John Szabo, MS Lovely peppery, cool climate style syrah, black and blue fruit, black olives, crushed resinous herbs, lots going on here, so much rotundone. The palate is fluid, tannins firm but sleek and length and depth are excellent. Top notch. Tasted blind at the NWACs June 2025.
GOLD MEDAL - National wine awards of Canada 2025
Appellation
VQA Niagara Penninsula
Vinification
Fermented in stainless steel tanks and individual fruit bins. Aged in oak for 19 months. Mostly some French with a little bit of Hungarian and American. Mostly older, neutral oak.
Producer Description
Creekside Estate Winery opened in 1997 in small-town Jordan, Ontario. The Winery is run by a passionate (some say fanatical) group of industry veterans who have decades of experience in their respective fields. The team of self-described cork dorks love what they do, and have fun doing it.
Early on the darlings of the Creekside portfolio were, like the people who created them, a little outside of the mainstream fold; Sauvignon Blanc and Syrah are the signature wines. Creekside has also developed a cult following for its Sauvignon Blanc / Semillon blend and Ontario’s award winning Broken Press Syrah.
Despite being considered viticulturally off-kilter for the region these 2 grapes showed promise and the early successes spurred further investment in the vineyard and cellar.
