Spearhead Winery
Canada's #1 Winery of the Year 2024!
The Spearhead Story....
Spearhead Winery is located on the benchlands of South East Kelowna. Our focus is on premium quality wine which we produce from grapes grown on our estate vineyard and from selected Okanagan Valley vineyards. The hand harvested grapes are sorted at the winery and fermented in small lots.
On our estate vineyard we grow Pinot Noir, Chardonnay and Riesling. Approximately 80% of 15 acres of vines is comprised of Pinot Noir including four different Dijon clones, 2 California heritage clones and Pommard. This combination of plantings enables our wine maker to select from the different characteristics exhibited by these clones in order to create a harmonious, complex Pinot Noir from our home vineyard. We also draw from a number of other vineyards in the Okanagan including Golden Retreat in Summerland and Coyote Vineyard in West Kelowna.
Our vineyard and winemaking teams are led by Grant Stanley. A highly respected BC winemaker, Grant has been at the helm as our Winemaker/General Manager for a few years now and he has transformed our winemaking program. His commitment to showcasing specific terroirs of the Central Okanagan Valley is evident in the ‘single vineyard’ program we have developed for our pinot noir bottlings. These wines display the unique attributes of the Okanagan vineyards that they were sourced from. We also produce blended Pinot Noirs which combine the characteristics of different vineyards, including our benchmark Cuvee. We have extended this exclusive approach to winemaking to other varietals including our Chardonnay which is made from a single clone.

| Wine Maker | Grant Stanley - Winemaker & General Manager Grant is a dual citizen of Canada and New Zealand; the latter is where he began his career working in the vineyards of Marlborough. Equipped with winery internships and diplomas in viticulture and winemaking from Nelson Marlborough Institute of Technology he moved to the North Island where he became a willing and humble slave to the high priests of Pinot Noir in Martinborough. His A-type personality soon led him to become compulsive, obsessive and devoted to Pinot Noir. In 2003, after 15 vintages with prestigious wineries in New Zealand and Oregon’s Willamette valley he was attracted to the incredible potential for growing and making high quality Pinot Noir in the Okanagan Valley. Since moving to the Okanagan Valley Grant has become well known for his winemaking style and his dedication to the improvement of growing and making Pinot Noir. His continuous collaboration with fellow winemakers and viticulturists helps drive this initiative. If you can’t find him in the vineyard or winery, he will most likely be on a tennis court. |

The nose displays jasmine and lime with a hint of crushed rock and flint. The palate opens with a blast of fresh lemon, crab apple, and mineral notes. Great tension and balance. Pair with fish tacos, butter chicken, crab legs, or dim sum.
A symphony of fresh pineapple, mango, and poached pear, with toasted almond and lemon custard undercurrent. Subtle hints of vanilla add a creamy texture. Pair with cheese fondue, roast chicken, seared scallops, creamy seafood pasta.
A combination of fruit sourced from East Kelowna and Summerland. This medium bodied Pinot Noir has aromas of red cherry, raspberry, clove, and earth. The palate is met with flavours of red plum, blackberry, sour cherry, and spice. Pair with margarita pizza, duck pate, or creamy Havarti cheese.
Saddle Block displays a pale ruby hue and opens with restrained aromas of raspberries, wild brambles, rooibos, and Earl Grey, complemented by sandalwood and savoury spices. The 2022 vintage is packed with baked cherry, blackberry, violet, and brown sugar. There is a pleasant damp earth and thyme spice note. The palate is fresh and bright with flavours of Bing cherry, pomegranate, red currant, and chocolate raspberry. Hints of Allspice linger on the finish.
