Little Farm Winery

Mineral driven Similkameen Valley wines.
Little Farm Winery is the small hands-on operation of Rhys Pender MW and Alishan Driediger. It started with a passion for wine and developed into growing and producing Chardonnay and Riesling from our Mulberry Tree Vineyard at our home in Cawston. Our goal is to make wines with minimal manipulation and intervention and to really capture the growing season.
Little Farm Winery will never be big and will always focus on making small batches of single-vineyard wine that reflect each site´s unique characteristics. Our goal is to make interesting, characterful, natural-ish wines and look after our little farm.

Wine Maker | While travelling in the south of France in her early 20’s, Alishan took a course in the language, wine and food of the region and a dream was sparked to one day live and work immersed in food and wine culture. Her interest in food and wine led her to earn a Professional Culinary Diploma and study in the Faculty of Agricultural Sciences at UBC as well as earning a certificate in winemaking from Guelph University. Growing grapes and making wine for Little Farm Winery, Alishan has since furthered her winemaking education by taking the University of California – Davis’ winemaking program. She also has completed the Level 3 Award in Wines and Spirits from the Wine and Spirit Education Trust (WSET). From starting off working in the cellar, vineyard and cellar door in the wine industry 14 years ago through opening a catering company and then creating the well-loved Okanagan Grocery bakery in Kelowna, all the way back around to the wine industry again, Alishan’s life and career have indeed been immersed in food and wine. When the opportunity to create their own version of the wine dream in the Similkameen Valley presented itself in 2008, she jumped right in. Now, after many years of working in food and wine, Alishan’s passion is sparked by the long history of winemaking and making an end product that speaks of where and how it was grown. She believes the best way to do this is with a respect for the natural processes, using old-school techniques and traditions, and hard work and dedication in growing the highest quality grapes with sustainable farming methods. Alishan wants to make wine in the spirit of looking after their plot of earth, wine that tastes and speaks of where it’s come from, that brings nourishment and pleasure, to be enjoyed together with friends and family in conviviality around the table! |

Salmon-pink in colour with a very intense and interesting nose of raspberry jam, bacon, crushed violets, fig and nuts. The palate is off-dry, quite full-bodied with balancing high acid and powerful flavours of currants, lime, potpourri, paprika, caramel and orange zest with a long, mineral finish.
A deep orangey gold with the nose showing ripe peach, nectarine, baking spice and yeasty, lees notes with some flint and toasted hazelnut. The palate is full bodied, intense and complex with grilled nectarine, toasted almond, pineapple, peach, lemon zest and golden apple with a hint of butter. Crisp, racy and mineral on the palate with a long, salty, mineral finish.
Pale gold in colour with an intense nose of lemon, lime, white peach, nectarine, spiced apple, chalk, wet stone and some lees notes, with just a hint of petrol. Just off-dry with high, balancing acidity, an intense palate, and flavours of lime, green apple, wet stones and lemongrass and developing a waxy richness. Beautiful texture with a very long, mineral finish.
The 2022 Siliceuse Chardonnay shows a powerful mix of fresh lemon, crisp green apple, nectarine, lees, flint and white peach on the nose, with grilled pineapple, salty, zingy minerality and peach skin on the palate and a long, stony finish.
A bold, intense yet fresh skin contact white made from Riesling. The nose shows typically powerful orange zest, tea leaf and ripe stone fruit notes. The palate is dry, quite full bodied and very textural combining spice, zest, minerality and orange zest phenolic grip. A great food pairing wine with middle-eastern spices and umami.
Pied de Cuve are Little Farm's natural wines. these are wines that receive almost no intervention from start to finish and are therefore a pure reflection of the place, the grape and the vintage. Pied de Cuve is a technique to start a fermentation using only the yeasts that are naturally occurring on the skin of the grapes.
