Sara d'Amato - A notable value, Meyer's 2022 gewürztraminer from the McLean Creek Road Vineyard features generous aromatic character with notes of ginger peach, potent floral perfume, and ripe peach. The fleshy richness of the palate and pleasant viscosity is balanced by a touch of citrus zest. Pure and potent with prominent varietal character and memorable length.
David Lawrason - This is one of the best Canadian gewurztraminers in memory. The best have usually come from the Okanagan which mirrors Alsace in terms of northern latitude and very dry, rain shadow climate. Other Alsatian varieties like pinot gris, pinot blanc and riesling also work very well in the Okanagan, by the way. Anyway, this captures classic if less opulent gewurz lychee, lavender, linden florality, ginseng and fennel. It is medium weight, full flavoured with more (BC) acidity than normal for this grape. But I like the tension, and there is still a sense of flavour richness and depth. Has the BC lift. Excellent length. Built to match Pacific Rim cuisine.

Vintage Notes
The 2022 vintage was a classic Okanagan growing season with a typical Spring budburst in early May and beautiful weather into June. We had beautiful flowering weather from late June into July which resulted in good yields across the valley. July and August were consistent with previous years although slightly cooler slowing the vines growth cycle. Leading up to harvest, the crop level was significantly higher compared to past vintages and needed more time to ripen. The weather was perfect for ripening with warm days and cool nights providing a lengthy hang time for our Pinot Noir blocks to develop flavours and physiological ripeness. The white varieties were harvested later than normal but the fruit was able to develop a great balance of sugars to acid and superb flavours.
Viticulture
The wine was crafted from a southwest-facing heritage block of vines planted on our estate McLean Creek Road Vineyard in 1994 with cuttings hailing from Germany. The vineyard is comprised of alluvial and glacial deposits making up a mix of gravel and sandy loam and is well-suited to this variety, allowing us to craft a beautifully aromatic, food-friendly Gewürztraminer.
- Harvest Date Oct 19th through 27th.

Vinification
The first batch of fruit harvested was loaded straight from the vineyard into the press and was slowly and gently whole bunch pressed to maximize juice quality without extracting harsh flavours. The later pick was destemmed and slightly crushed and left to soak with the skins for 24 hours, then gently pressed. Both lots were combined, and a long cool indigenous fermentation occurred in stainless steel vats and older seasoned French oak barrels lasting four weeks. The wine was left on its fine lees for a further four months. No malolactic fermentation occurred.

- ph 3.42
- Residual sugar 5.0 g/L

Producer Description
In traditional French Burgundian style we focus on small case lots of varietals best suited and expressive of their unique place of origin with an emphasis on Chardonnay and Pinot Noir. We produce about 8,000 cases and strive to produce the finest wines possible. Our wines are hand harvested and hand crafted and we take great pride in each bottle of wine with great attention to detail. We hope that you enjoy our wines as much as we enjoy making them!
OUR PHILOSOPHY
To produce the finest quality wines in the traditions of burgundy, we believe the wines are not made but grown. Each wine reflects the single vineyard of its origin, the soil, the meso-climate, the aspect and the people that hand tend the vines. Hand-harvested and hand-crafted, with great attention to detail and minimal winemaking intervention we take pride in each bottle of wine. Meyer Family Vineyards wines are produced from two main vineyards, the 1.62-hectare “Old Main Road” vineyard on the Naramata Bench and the 6.9-hectare “McLean Creek Road” vineyard in Okanagan Falls. We also work with passionate quality-minded growers in Kaleden and the East Kelowna area to round out our portfolio of terroir-driven wines.
Winemaker Chris Carson brings a wealth of global experience to Meyer Family Vineyards. His philosophy is to care for the grape on the vine and maintain as much as possible a hands-off approach in the cellar to allow the true expression of the terroir.
OUR VINEYARDS
